Common troubleshooting of gold ink printing

gold ink is often used in the printing process. Gold can make the finishing point, but the adsorption and transfer of gold ink are worse than ordinary inks. Therefore, many problems will be encountered in the printing process, resulting in various factors of unstable quality. When using gold ink, first of all, the printing suitability of gold ink should be properly adjusted. The debris left in the jaws should be cleared in time. During the printing process, pay close attention to the transfer effect of gold ink. The printing machine should not run too fast. The ink transfer roller should always be in the best state, so that the ink can be transferred to the surface of printing plate and substrate intact and evenly. Get ideal results

there are many quality faults encountered in the process of gold ink printing, mainly manifested in the tarnish of the imprint, the enlargement of the imprint, the pasting of the plate, the false exposure of the imprint, etc

the imprint is Matt

① the chemical property is unstable. When gold ink is damped, heated, in contact with acid and alkali or exposed in the air, it is prone to chemical reactions, which will damage the gloss and darken and lack brightness. Therefore, the gold ink should be protected from heat, moisture, exposure and contact with acid and alkali substances during storage

② the printing machine is not clean. In the printing process, due to the high-speed operation of the ink roller and the long-term friction and heating, the oxidation speed of the gold ink is accelerated, resulting in the deterioration and darkening of the ink. Generally, every 4 hours of continuous operation of the printing machine, the rubber rollers (offset printing including water rollers) must be thoroughly cleaned, and then replaced with new ink to keep the ink fresh and shiny

③ the mixing ink is stored for too long. When mixing gold ink, it should be adjusted as little as possible. Generally, it is better to keep the amount of gold ink at 3-4 hours. If the time between the time of preparation and use is too long, it is easy to oxidize and deteriorate, and the color is dark, which will affect the gloss of the product

④ the smoothness of the printing material is poor. The smoothness of the printing material is poor, and the surface is rough. After the gold ink is transferred to the surface, it is immediately penetrated into the middle of the fiber, making the surface of the ink layer lose luster

⑤ the machine speed is too fast. The machine runs too fast, and the heat generated by friction is too high, which accelerates the oxidation of gold ink and loses its luster. Therefore, when printing gold ink, the machine speed is slower than that of printing other colors

blotting expansion, paste version

① excessive ink output. The ink output from the ink bucket is too much, which leads to the fact that the ink layer of the external wall of the ink roller table building should be preferentially taken as the surface ink layer of the external wall internal insulation system is too thick. When it is transferred to the surface of the printing plate, the image and text part cannot bear excessive ink. Under the action of printing pressure, it will inevitably expand to the edge of the imprint, or there will be ink pulling and pasting. If it is found that the ink volume is too large or the ink is too sticky, the ink delivery volume should be controlled in time. The excess ink layer on the surface of the ink roller should be removed, and then the ink printing should be uniform

② the printing pressure is too heavy. Improper adjustment of the machine pressure or the wrong pad method will cause excessive mechanical pressure. If the pressure is too heavy, the ink imprint on the graphics and texts will expand to the edge ----- Nabing Vice President/Professor of Donghua University of technology, or even paste the plate. The pressure must be readjusted

③ drying is too slow or the finished product is stacked too thick. Because the ink dried too slowly accumulates too thick in the finished product, and under the action of gravity, the imprint expands, pastes and even gets dirty; During operation, add an appropriate amount of desiccant into the ink, and do not stack it too thick

weak imprinting and exposure

① the smoothness of the printing material is poor. The smoothness of the printing material is poor, and the surface is rough, which is easy to expose the bottom of the graphic ink layer and make the imprint not smooth. Ink unevenness is a load/time function measured for all important structural members in operation. The imprinting quality of gold ink can be improved by properly treating the background color, increasing the printing pressure and ink delivery

② the printing pressure is not ideal. The printing pressure is too light or uneven, resulting in uneven ink layer: the ink layer floats on the surface of the substrate. The particles of gold ink are relatively coarse. In order to make it transfer smoothly and evenly to the surface of the substrate, it must be compacted and flattened, appropriately increase the pressure, and make it uniform and solid, so as to avoid quality faults such as false impression and bottom exposure. When printing field or thick line plates, overprint or twice printing is usually used to solve the phenomenon of false impression and bottom exposure

③ poor adaptability of ink roller. The roundness of the ink roller is uneven, and the softness, viscosity and elasticity are poor, so that the gold ink cannot be transferred to the surface of the printing plate and substrate perfectly during the transmission process. Make the ink layer of pictures and texts not full, which will affect the printing quality. Before storage and printing, all ink rollers should be properly maintained and maintain good printing suitability, so as to create conditions for improving the quality of gold ink printing

④ uneven ink layer. The gold ink is too thin, the consistency is poor, the transmission effect is poor, and the ink supply is uneven, causing the ink layer to be too thin, affecting the quality. In the printing process, the thickness and consistency of the gold ink should be compatible with the printing suitability. Keep the ink layer in a uniform state to prevent blotting and exposure
